Nordic cooperation

As a consequence of the tense security policy conditions in Europe in recent years, Sweden and Finland have become members of NATO.

On both the military and civilian sides, Nordic total defence work is now being considered. The fact that the entire Nordic Region is now a member of NATO means new opportunities for security policy cooperation and changed framework conditions for how we organise our total defence work.

Among other things, in a security policy crisis or armed conflict, Norway will go from being a receiving country for allied forces to becoming a transit country for forces and materiel that will be sent on to Finland and Sweden. We will also be able to have more opportunities for cooperation on supplies, logistics and transport and protection of the civilian population.
